The US Open is debuting "the Cube", an AR broadcast technology that will hopefully put an end to awkward split screen remote interviews and associated delays. Very cool tech reminiscent of something from Star Wars or Star Trek. Certainly helpful to engage viewers.
"The Cube, which measures four metres by four metres and is made up of more than four million led pixels, can virtually connect players to hosts and experts around the world, while on-screen it looks like a hologram of the player is transported next to the interviewer." https://www.tennis365.com/us-open/eurosports-magical-cube-proves-to-be-one-of-the-stars-of-the-opening-day-of-the-2020-us-open/
