With live sports on pause temporarily, many sports tech companies have been forced to pivot and find opportunities to grow. The smart startups have used this as a chance to widen their net and open the door to new markets and to a changed sports environment.
A couple of examples. Waittime, uses AI to track lines and traffic flow is now being repurposed to support physical distancing measures. Prowire, a startup that provides in stream lag free audio has positioned themselves as part of the connected stadium by providing a multiplatform fan engagement and sponsorship opportunity when sports do resume play. Providing teams with creative options for fan engagement and incremental opportunities is critical in sports 2.0.
Satisifi Labs, which is profiled in the linked article is a company that uses A.I. to provide a virtual assistant has pivoted their technology to help in the fight againstC. There is no doubt that the next little while will be a challenge for sports tech startup, but with ingenuity and creativity the cream will always rise to the top.
