Sports 2.0 will require innovation, creativity and an investment in technology. The stadium will look different for years to come, beginning with increased security technology, contactless technology's and fan engagement activations to support social distancing measures. To accomplish this and other smart stadium capabilities, organizations need to make sure the foundation is solid. Infrastructure may not be sexy but it is critical because without connectivity, nothing is possible. There are so many vendors and solutions out there and it is tough to wade through the noise and find a vendor who will not only provide the right connectivity solution but will also partner with you. Vendor partnership and support is critical as connectivity infrastructure is a huge investment that has a multi year shelf life. It's not good enough for a vendor to plug and go, they need to be with you through the whole journey to support, upgrade and optimize the solution.
Sports Innovation Lab has come up with an incredible resource to help tech teams and organizations decide which is the right partner for them called the "Power Play Index". Use all the resources possible and don't make these decisions in a silo. To steal an old carpenters saying, measure twice and cut once.
